Don’t they have traffic attorneys over there?

What I would say to this man.
Stupid: look in mirror.
Like yeah it’s shitty to get a 5 mph speeding ticket, but it’s shittier to lose the equivalent of a new Ford Fusion because you can’t get over it.

I'm sure his sons are just thrilled about it.

Dude pay the ticket.

I read this on the BBC a while back and his argument seemed pretty weak. So far as I can tell his logic went “I can’t have been speeding therefore your
camera must be wrong” and then proceeded to call
expert
witnesses to say why the cameras are theoretically fallible. Not like he had dashcam footage,
GPS track data, witness testimony
or
anything else to corroborate (despite none of those bring
likely to be much use either)
Sidebar,
fuck getting dinged
$120 for 5mph over, I see why people torch speed cameras

A stubborn engineer? Shocked, I tell ya
Pay the ticket, save the $40K to help build guillotines for the legislators involved who often deserve that experience. Of course who am I kidding, Limeys are even less likely to ever resist than Murkans.

seriously though, $120 is crazy. I go 5 over basically everywhere

For that isn’t it cheaper to relocate to a non-extradition country?

Traffic barristers? Never see adverts.

$120 is the minimum fine for any infraction where I live. Expired plates? $120. Speeding 1-5 mph over? $120. Loud exhaust? $120.
Oh, and if you show up to court and lose, the court assesses a $285 fee on top of the $120. Some tickets require a court appearance, thus also end up requiring a $285 on top of whatever infraction you had.
This is why I had to pay over $400 for a window tint ticket. Cop said “just remove the tint and bring proof to court, the judge will toss out the ticket”. Nope, the judge was like “well was the car tinted at the time of the stop? Yes? Ticket still counts, plus court fees now.” Oof.

Owwwch
I live in a world where everyone does 9km/hr over the posted limit as that’s the threshold for points on your license. As a general rule the cops don’t bother pulling anyone over for it except if they want to for something else as
they’d have to ticket everybody.
Get on
the highway and traffic
flowing at
20-30km over isn’t unusual, needless to say I use Waze everywhere.
Maybe in your area they’re fishing for them out of state cars...

I once got a letter in the mail as a warning for going 25 through a toll booth (marked 15). The reason why this was silly was because i have been nearly rear- ended (followed by honking and flashing) before for slowing down to about 40 instead of blowing through it at 60-70 like most people do in NJ. So the letter for going 25 just cracked me up to no end.
